Do you need a truck that can tow pretty much anything? Do you need a truck that can pretty much withstand any kind of driving conditions? Well, the Overland Park Chevrolet dealer says your obvious choice should be the 2011 Chevy Silverado HD. The Silverado is able to tow 21,700 pounds and comes with a 6,635-pound payload rating. This is the most power and most capability available in the truck segment. Don’t believe that the new Silverado has these towing capabilities, well, Chevy headquarters tell the Kansas City used car dealers that they can prove it.

Chevrolet engineers ran many tests to make sure the Silverado was capable of these amazing towing capabilites. They ran many tests at maximum gross combined weight rating (GCWR) to validate the durability of the powertrain, drivertrain, and brake components. The GCWR has been increased to 29,000 pounds on the Silverado. To confirm predictable and stable handling they tested the Silverado in different terrains, grades, and climates while pulling the maximum trailer weight. Based on these tests, the Silverado’s  maximum 5th-wheel towing capacity was increased to 21,700 pounds and conventional towing capacity was increased to 17,000 pounds. The engineers at Chevy conducted extra tests to test the stronger cargo box and rear-axle components. The maxiumum payload has been increased to 6,635 pounds and the Silverado has been fitted with higher-strength steel for cargo box cross sills. The Silverado HD also leads the truck segment in horsepower, and torque. It has a horsepower of 397 hp., and produces 765 lb-ft of torque. The Kansas City used car dealers say these tests show on Chevy has accomplished creating the most powerful truck on the market today.

GM Full-size Truck global vehicle line executive, Rick Spina, spoke about the Silverado’s new increased ratings and the tests that the performed on the Silverado, he said, “Our focus has been consistently been on delivering customers the most capable heavy-duty trucks in the market. The first set of capability tests confirmed that the team had exceeded the payload and towing targets by a significant margin. Ongoing testing demonstrated a clear opportunity to increase the true capabilities of these trucks. Even pulling a combined weight of nearly 15 tons seems easy behind the wheel of a 2011 Silverado HD 3500 with the proven Duramax Diesel.”

Does all these details about the Silverado got you thinking about how the things you can tow with this new car or the places you can travel with a 2011 Silverado HD? Well you won’t have to wait much longer, the Silverado will be available at the Overland Park Chevrolet later this Summer.
