The EN-V concept by GM is a car with a major touch of the “future” added to it! You see a picture of one and think, could I really picture this cruising down a busy urban street? Not sure, maybe someday?
The EN-V, which stands for Electric Networked-Vehicle, was developed as a result of a partnership with Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp., which is based in China. The concept displays 3 different, but very cool looking designs: Jiao (Pride), Miao (Magic) and Xiao (Laugh). Perhaps one will be available for a test drive at your Kansas City used car dealer one day?!?
The electric concept is being introduced to help alleviate some issues that result from many people dwelling in urban areas. The prediction is that by 2030 most of the world’s population will be living in urban areas where traffic, congestion, air quality, affordability, and parking are already pesky issues!
In Shanghai about 6 weeks ago, these electric concept cars were unveiled. The Jiao is a bright, blue color; the Miao a squared black and gray model; and the Xiao a red with black, purple accents. They run up to 40 miles on a single charge. Perfect if you don’t have far to go for work, school, or your favorite workout facility! A lithium ion battery powers the EN-V concept.
There are number of awesome features on the EV-V that would be great assets to have on any car found on your Kansas City used Chevrolet dealer’s lot. For example, it can help reduce traffic congestion by using real-time traffic information to select that fastest way to your destination. Thus, not every car would be using the same route at approximately the same time. The EN-V comes equipped with this capability, as well as the ability to communicate safely with friends, family, and co-workers while on the go!
I could see EN-V cars on the streets of Shanghai and other crowded Asian cities a lot faster than I could see them on US roadways, but I guess time will tell. I think it’s great that GM is working globally to try and reduce some major traffic concerns that resonate throughout the world!
