Overland Park Chevy dealerships should soon be bursting at the seams with new customers interested in buying a 2011 Chevrolet Corvette.  General Motors has recently announced their 2011 Corvette Engine Build Experience program, which allows the new car buyer of a new Z06 or ZR1 to go to the Corvette plant and hand-build the engine for their new sports car.  The incentive may get a few Kansas City used car drivers into their nearest Overland Park Chevy dealership and purchase a new vehicle.  There is a price to pay for such an exciting experience and it will cost new car buyers $5,800 plus the cost of the Corvette.

The only thing keeping everyone from total excitement is that this deal is only offered for the high end Corvette models, the 2011 Z06 and ZR1.  This means that the total cost of the car and the build your own engine would be over $80,000.  However, there are some consumers who are only interested in buying a more wallet friendly car, and they are in luck!   Along with the 2011 Corvette Engine Build Experience, General Motors is offering 4 other special programs that will be available with the purchase of other Corvette models.  One deal is the ZR1 Driving program for 2011 ZR1 owners, and is included in the price of the car.  This offers the car owner complimentary entrance and attendance into one of the two official Corvette ZR1 Driving Schools, either the Bob Bondurant School of High Performance or Ron Fellows Performance Driving School.

A second is the Corvette Museum Delivery Program and allows the buyer to pick up the car in Bowling Green, Kentucky and receive a private guided tour of the GM Bowling Green Assembly Plant.  This is something that no other car company currently offers in the United States market.

A third is the Buyers Tour where the buyer gets a build number and the Corvette Museum notifies you when it is hitting the assembly line.  The buyers and a guest will get to come in for a private tour of the Assembly Plant and will get to see their own actual Corvette being manufactured as it is going down the assembly line.

The last option is the Corvette Photo Album where buyers will receive a 20 page leather bound album with information and photographs specifically devoted to capturing the experience of a Corvette being built as well as a letter of authenticity from the National Corvette Museum.

This June marked the sixth straight month that car sales have increased for GM’s four brands, Chevrolet, GMC, Buick, and Cadillac.  Sales have continually increased by 20 percents over this time, marking huge success for the automaker.  Sales for Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, and Cadillac increased by a total of 36 percent for the month of June and 32 percent overall for the year so far.  Kansas city used car sales increased as a result of the success of the company’s launch vehicles as well as its growing sales of compact, midsize, and luxury crossovers, such as the Kansas city chevy Malibu.

One reason for GM’s recent success is the increase in large pick-up trucks.  Combined sales for the Chevy Silverado, Chevy Avalanche, and GMC Sierra, all currently being sold at several Kansas city used car dealers, were up 27 percent for the month, compared to June of 2009, and are up 12 percent year-to-date.  The Vice President of GM, Dan Johnson, believes that the interest in pick-up trucks is an indication that an important part of the U.S. economy is slowly recovering and becoming stronger.

Chevrolet itself has been having a successful year so far.  The automaker delivered 141,381 vehicles in June, an increase of 32 percent year-over-year.  This number includes an 11 percents gain in retail sales, which marked the ninth consecutive month for year-over-year retail sales gain.  The largest of these sales gains were from Chevrolet’s line of full size trucks, such as the best selling Silverado.  Sales of the Kansas city Chevy Malibu, a midsize sedan, have also added to the success of Chevrolet over the past year and their combined sales with other GMC automobiles have proven to bring life back to a seemingly dying industry.

It is operated by a 2 mode hybrid transmission and a 1.8 kilowatt hour battery pack.  This means the truck can operate on battery power alone and a combination of transmission and battery power.  Definitely a new concept that is not found in the powertrain of other Kansas City used car Chevy models!

The engineers at Chevy conducted extra tests to test the stronger cargo box and rear-axle components. The maxiumum payload has been increased to 6,635 pounds and the Silverado has been fitted with higher-strength steel for cargo box cross sills. The Silverado HD also leads the truck segment in horsepower, and torque. It has a horsepower of 397 hp., and produces 765 lb-ft of torque.The Kansas City used car dealers say these tests show on Chevy has accomplished creating the most powerful truck on the market today.
