This June marked the sixth straight month that car sales have increased for GM’s four brands, Chevrolet, GMC, Buick, and Cadillac. Sales have continually increased by 20 percents over this time, marking huge success for the automaker. Sales for Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, and Cadillac increased by a total of 36 percent for the month of June and 32 percent overall for the year so far. Kansas city used car sales increased as a result of the success of the company’s launch vehicles as well as its growing sales of compact, midsize, and luxury crossovers, such as the Kansas city chevy Malibu. Chevy Silverado hybrid Verizon’s sustainable vehicle of choice
Hybrid models are getting to be oh-so popular these days. From recent college grads, to my newly retired middle aged uncle, drivers from all walks of life are opting for these environmentally friendly autos. Large companies are also joining the hybrid bandwagon, according to recent reports.
Most of us are familiar with the communications giant, Verizon. They’re presence is all over from billboards to TV ads. Recently, the company chose to purchase 576 Chevy Silverado Hybrid models. This is great news not only for GM, but for Fairway Motors, the dealership in Hazelton, PA that Verizon put the orders through. Now that’s hopefully some serious bonus money for the staff at that store!
Why did Verizon choose to go with the Silverado hybrid versus say a Kansas City Chevy Malibu, for example? According to Verizon’s Chief Sustainability officer, James Gowen, this particular hybrid will allow the company to have a fleet of vehicles that offer lower-carbon emissions. The Verizon employees most likely using them, from what I infer, will be staff who service communication towers and do more hands-on communication work for the company, so a larger vehicle is a must!
Either way, the Silverado Hybrid is looks like a great truck. The gas mileage will be comparable to a four-cylinder sedan, giving an owner 21 mpg in the city and 22 on the highway. It is operated by a 2 mode hybrid transmission and a 1.8 kilowatt hour battery pack. This means the truck can operate on battery power alone and a combination of transmission and battery power. Definitely a new concept that is not found in the powertrain of other Kansas City used car Chevy models!
The Silverado hybrid will run you around $42K, so it’s a bit more than other Chevy autos, such as the Kansas City Chevy Malibu, which starts at about $22K for a base model. It’s a great option if you need a vehicle with some muscle and transporting power! Take a test drive to see what one is all about- I am sure you’ll like it!
