The 2011 Chevy Volt may just be the ticket to putting General Motors back at the forefront after a turbulent couple of years. They’ve been working on this environmentally friendly car for about four years, and the wait to see it live is almost over.
The Volt really turned heads when it was awarded the Green Car of the Year at the Los Angeles Auto Show on November 18th. Considering all the eco-friendly autos on display at this prominent event, this is one feat GM undoubtedly had a great time celebrating. Let’s see some of the features that will make the Volt worth checking out when it arrives at your favorite Kansas City used car dealer, McCarthy Chevrolet.
Electric/Gasoline Powertrain
The Volt works in this way. It is fitted with a 111 kilowatt electric engine that by itself can power the car up to forty miles. Perfect if you have a short commute to work or primarily drive within the Kansas City limits on a daily basis. After these forty miles, the Volt runs by a gasoline powered four-cylinder generator. This unit will power the Volt for an additional 300 miles. It’s probably evident that if you own a Volt, your trips to the gas pump might be decreased. Of course, this depends on how much you drive.
Technology Abundance
Get inside the Volt, and you’ll soon discover all the bells and whistles that accompany this awesome little car. Sit behind the wheel and you’ll see that the control buttons are laid out in a modern design, much like most tech savvy gadgets on the market. The Volt comes with a built in hard drive system, iPod connectivity, and satellite radio. If this isn’t enough to lure you in, the base Volt also comes with a navigation system and Bluetooth capability. GM has really made technology at an arm’s reach for Volt owners!
The Volt is in the process of being rolled out to Chevy dealerships across the county. McCarthy Chevrolet, which features many great models, such as the Kansas City Chevrolet Malibu, is looking forward to featuring GM’s next big hit on their lots very soon!
